The Feast Day of Saints Philip and James

"For the wonderful grace and virtue declared in all your saints, who have been the chosen vessels of your grace, and the lights of the world in their generations." - Preface for a Saint.

The apostles Philip and James are traditionally commemorated together on this day because of the bond behind their calling. Apparently both understood the yearnings of those among whom they served and were thus able to bring not only teaching and healing to them, but an appreciation of the divine power that may be known and shared as God’s gift to us.
