An Index of Water Stories

As today is the Feast of St. Mary, also known as The Assumption, it is an ancient European Christian tradition that all of the world’s seawater on this day is holy water. I imagine it has some pre-Christian origin, but it is so obscure that I have yet to find its provenance.
